Federal regulators are cautiously welcoming the news of Alltel's merger with Western Wireless, while remaining wary of any moves by larger wireless players to further consolidate.
The company emerging from the $6 billion union of Alltel and Western Wireless would be the fifth-largest wireless carrier in the United States, with 10 million subscribers in 33 states.[/b]

Now i have delt with Alltel in the past, and never regret leaving them.. Our news did a report on this merger, and belive it or not.. the people put alltel down on national tv. One lady stated "If they would get better phones and plan, along with rollover feature, i would keep my service" Another person stated "I couldnt get service at all, and the service was spotty, now it is getting better, but still too spotty. There coverage area is still not that great among other companies""
Now alltel claims they have service everywhere in the nation, but yet only have towers in 33 states. So i guess they dont have the coverage they claim they have after all. Here is a link to a site that shows true coverage of your celluar company.
