DIRECTV has launched another local HD market: Tucson.
The satellite TV company said it would offer local HD from ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC affiliates in the Arizona market. With the addition of Tucson, DIRECTV said it has local high def channels in 68 cities, representing more than 72.6 percent of U.S. TV households.
Also, DIRECTV said it added KUTP in Phoenix to its local HD programming lineup, enabling HD customers in the market to view Phoenix Suns games in high def. The company also offers Phoenix broadcast affiliates and independent station KTVK in high def.
DIRECTV is rolling out local HD channels as part of a nationwide expansion of high def programming that includes plans to offer up to 100 national HD channels by the end of the year.
