Sonicview 4000 is like the Coolsat 7000 that also has a USB drive and allows you to plug in hard-drives and make it a DVR.

I've read that on a few sites, is this true?

well not sure on that.. i have one and its nice. but never turn it into a dvr via USB HD. I guess i have to give it a shot..

well I plugged in my external hard drive and tried different things in the menu (USB mass storage device, Transfer to USB etc.) and I got nothing. maybe in future s/w versions I don't see why not, I'm sure the processor's fast enough.

possibilty, all in all it should still update by usb stick.
