How to get your EPG to work - Straight Scoop!
I've tried this and it works.

I have to admit that I've been fumbling around for a few weeks with getting my EPG to work properly on my 2500. I've asked questions and seen post but all the solutions didn't work for me. I was getting 2 hours of guide so why complain.....right. When I kept reading that many were getting 6-8 hours I went on a mission to make mine do the same. Just so you know I wasn't even getting the message to load the EPG Message. After I completed the steps below I did and also now have 6-8 hours EPG on my 2500.

Here is what I discovered and hopefully it will help others.

Do this first: Go to the Installation area and copy down all the information on each of your Satellites. Disq Setting are very important as well as type of LNB etc. Write it all down. Better safe then trying to figure it all out later.

Step One: Load the most current bin (Important).
Step Two: Do a Factory Reset. (My first big mistake because I kept missing this step and probably why I was only getting 2 hours on the guide).
Step Three: Blind Scan. Note that you will have to first select the Sats your pointed at in the Installation Menu. Actually install the with the Disq settings etc. In my case it was 110 and 119. Make sure your DISQ Setting are proper too. After you select the Sats from the Installation you will want to exit and then do a Blind Scan on all the Satellites you've installed. This process takes a couple of minutes so just sit back and let it do it's thing. FYI: In my case I selected the two Sats that I installed. Selected the SCAN ALL and let her go. You will most likely see another sat appearing....don't worry about that one. It's not important for what we're doing here.
Step Four: Echostar Package After you've done your Blind Scan on each of your Sats you will most likely see your programs if all went well above. Hit your Sat button and select the Echostar Package. This will put all your Sats that you scanned with Blind Scan in Dishnet order.
Step Five: EPG Populate Here is where I crossed my fingers. I went to 100 and with the "REMOTE" turned off my unit. I waited about 15 seconds and turned it back on. Bingo the message to load the EPG appeared and I selected OK.
Step Six: Date and time settings. If your not using a Channel Guide you need to make sure your that you've set your Date, Time and Time Zone for the EPG to work properly. Failure to do this will show you nothing in your EPG. Time Zone is a little strange due to daylight saving etc. For the Central Time zone I had to use -5. If your guide is reading a couple of hours ahead or behind this is the problem. Just make the necessary adjustments to the Time Zone.

Hopefully like me you will be one happy camper now! I have 6-8 hours of guide now showing for all my channels.

Using A Channel List:
I happen to like my Channel List and my family is used to it. I know that most don't even worry about using them anymore since the EPG is so good.

Using Channel Master I loaded my list or guide that I like and made the changes that I felt were necesary like marking favorites, locking out the smut, etc. If you don't have a Channel List there are some in the download area that are great and many already have your locals present. Word of Caution: Here is another thing that I stumbled on. My channel list that I was using had the Sats reversed or named wrong. Go to the A&E Channel and you should be on Echo 7. Channel 100 is Echo 8. If it is different you've got the wrong sat names for your channels and make the corrections...... I did this and it was partially working but not right.

After you do your changes click on tools and create a template. I like to name mine with the date, time and put the word temp so I know it's my temp that I created.

Next disconnect your FTA from the dish and attach it to your computer.

Under the tools function you select Read STB. This will take all the current information that you just scanned with the right channel locations and TP's for your area and load them into Channel Master.

Sat Names: I've been fighting the Sat Name issue for a long time. Many suggestions were given but at this point this is working so make note. After you do a Blind Scan on your Sats the names will be picked up during the scan. Make note of this and be sure that if you using a Channel List that your naming your Sats correctly. Like I said I'm not sure if this makes a difference but it's working for me. In my case I have 110 and 119 DN. The correct name for 110 is Echo 8.10/Ku and the correct name for 119 is Echo 7/Ku. Notice the upper and lower case and spaces. If your Channel list is not showing them that way right click on the Sat and click properties and name them. Also make sure when you checking the Properties for each Sat that the Degree's are set right for each. Echo 8.10/Ku should read 110 and Echo 7/Ku should read 119.

After your done reading your information from your STB it's time to apply the template that you created above. Again, go to Tools and select the option to Apply Template. Select the template that you created and let Channel Master do it's thing. FYI: when creating and applying I just used the defaults and it works.

After you've applied your template to your Blind Scan File save it to another name.

Now write that file to your STB and your good to go.

CRITICAL: If you don't have your Date and Time and Time Zone set properly your EPG won't work. Time Zone is a little strange due to daylight saving etc.
